Week 1
Hello Bennett!
Welcome back to Creative Movement! This week we did a review of some of our dance basics, as a reminder for those who were with us last session, and as an introduction to our new friends. We did our Braindance warm up, reviewed what a shape is in dance class (a frozen position of the body), and practiced our locomotor movements (movement that travels) across the floor. We also tried really hard to dance on all three of our levels – low, middle, and high. We ended class this week with a game of “Swamp Spots,” where your child got to make his or her own creative choices to make shapes and locomote around the space. It was a great first week back! See you next week!
Best,
Miss Jessie

Week 2
Hello Bennett Friends,
This week we continued our review of important dance concepts from last session. This week we worked on Non-Locomotor movement (dancing in place), and directions (forward, backwards, sideways). We explored different Non-Locomotor options in the circle after braindance, practicing staying on our spots. Then we went across the floor doing locomotor movements in different directions. This led up to a
rousing game of follow the leader (changing directions as we traveled), and a game of Locomotor Freeze Dance to end the class. We had a great time and I can't wait to keep the momentum going next week!
